I created 'How I Roll' to strengthen current efforts to stop the spread of HIV and STDs. Whether bacterial or viral, these diseases are easily preventable yet still take a toll on our lives.
The mission of this site is an effort to stop the spread of HIV and STDs by:
• promoting condom use
• providing information
• opening a dialogue about prevention methods.
The Inspiration for ‘How I Roll’
I was getting an HIV test one day when my counselor at the SF Department of Health asked questions about my sexual history. Piecing together the last year I realized a trend. First was that I fucked a lot of guys (ok not so disturbing).
And second, more and more guys were asking me to bareback. Truthfully, the only place I felt safe from this pressure was at work on a porn set. (shrug) How ironic right?!
So then I began to wonder why our attitudes toward condom use had started to relax? Especially now when the number of new HIV infections is on the rise.
At the same time I’d be blind not to notice a similar trend in my industry. Bareback porn is selling like crazy! What does that mean, is it just entertainment? Or if we're watching guys have unprotected sex, does that lead to having more unprotected sex? Are we willing to take risks because we think it’s hotter? Are some negative guys only hooking up with other negative guys because we feel its safe way to bareback?
All of these questions led me to ask myself the big question:
"What could I do try to raise awareness ?"
And so the 'How I Roll' Campaign was born.
Yeah, I work in an adult industry, and as adults we reserve the right to decide for ourselves what prevention methods are working or not working for us. I also believe the hot images I direct and produce can have an influence. No matter if you watch bareback or safe porn, or you don't watch porn at all... There are ways that you can have hotter and safer sex, no matter who you are or your sero-status. I created this site to share facts about HIV and STDs and how you can get them. Armed with knowledge, I hope we can better take care of ourselves and each other.
I am not here to wag my finger in your face. You have figure out 'How You Roll'.
If nothing else I am here to remind us all that safer and hotter sex is still happening...
